Rule IoT receives, collects and processes information from and about you and your devices and third party applications when you voluntarily provide it, in some instances automatically when you interact with us, and occasionally if we receive it from other sources.
We collect information, including personal data, that you voluntarily provide when you register or subscribe to our Services, and when you use our Services. Information we collect includes your username, email address, and any messages, device identifiers and settings, device instructions and other content you send to us directly or indirectly (from third party device manufacturers and app publishers that you choose to link to our Services). We may collect data from you, when you visit or use our Site, or social media channels, or purchase and use our Apps and Services, download software updates, contact our customer support, participate in our promotions and surveys or otherwise interact with us.
Information that we may collect includes: personal data (e.g. name, surname, title); contact information (e.g. email, phone number, address, country); account login information (e.g. login ID, encrypted password, other security codes); billing information and any other information that you decide to voluntarily share with us directly or indirectly from third party device manufacturers and app publishers that you choose to link to our Services (e.g. device identifiers and settings, device instructions, app settings, feedback, opinions, reviews, comments, uploaded files, pictures uploaded into our social media accounts). We also collect information, which may include personal data, automatically when you visit or use our Site, Apps or Services or otherwise interact with us, whether by your computer, mobile phone or other "smart" devices. Information we may collect automatically includes device information (e.g. hardware models, IMEI numbers and other unique device identifiers, MAC address, IP address, operating system version, and settings of the device you use to access our Services and the services of third party device manufacturers and app publishers that you choose to link to our Services); log information (e.g. the time and duration of your use of our Services); location information (e.g. your actual location derived from your IP address or other location-based technologies that may be collected when you enable location-based features in or through our Apps); other information about your use of our electronic channels or Services (e.g. the third party devices and applications you use, motion sensor data, links you click within our websites or advertising e-mails)
Cookies also allow applications to tailor their response to your activity. Cookies may generally be disabled or removed by tools available with most commercial browsers, or blocked in the future by selecting certain settings. Browsers will need to be configured separately. You can stop all collection of information via our Apps by uninstalling them. Also, you can exercise specific privacy choices, such as enabling or disabling certain location-based services, by adjusting the permissions in your mobile device. Please be aware that if you disable or remove certain location-based technologies parts of the Service may not work or may not work properly.
We may also collect information, which may include personal data, from other sources, such as public databases, joint marketing partners, social media platforms and third parties. If you choose to connect your social media account to your Rule IoT account, data from your social media account will be shared with us, which may include your friends, contacts, and data that is part of your profile.
Rule IoT is based in the United States with data collection and data processing operations in the U.S. and the European Union. Regardless of where you are located, by visiting our Site, using our Apps or otherwise interacting with our Services you consent to the collection, processing and transfer of your information, including personal data in, to and from the U.S. and E.U. It is possible that the data protection laws of the countries in which we collect, process and transfer data may not be as comprehensive or protective as the laws of the country where you live.

Rule IoT and its affiliates may send you periodic communications about products, services, promotions and events about which we think you may have interest. These directed communications may be sent to you via different means, such as email, phone, SMS text messages, mail, and third party social networks. They may be tailored to your preferences as stated to us or as inferred by us from visits or use of our Site, Apps or Services. If required by applicable law, we will re-obtain your consent before initiating these communications. We will also give you the opportunity to withdraw your consent (opt-out) to receiving directed marketing from us at any time. Anonymized data may be used or disclosed for any purpose, including to market our products and services.
You have control over what personal data is collected by us from you and what third party device manufacturers and app publishers you direct to send data to Rule IoT. Subject to our legal obligations and our need to perform the Services for which you have contracted us, how long that information is stored is guided by practicalities, such as how long the data is needed to provide you with our products or services or to operate our business, and how readily the data can be deleted, overwritten or destroyed. When a user or subscriber account is deactivated, information that was sent to us by the customer and that is no longer needed is periodically overwritten or destroyed. To dispose of personal data, we may delete it or take other appropriate steps. Data, including personal data, may persist in copies made for backup and business continuity purposes for additional time.
We take measures consistent with applicable data protection and data security laws and regulations to protect the data we collect and process. All data at rest is encrypted. Depending on the state of the art, the costs of the implementation and the nature of the data being protected, we have technical and organizational measures to prevent risks such as destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of, or access to the data, and we require our service providers to use appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality and security of our data. Data collected by Rule IoT is stored in servers located in the United States and in the European Union that are designed and believed to meet or exceed industry security standards. Nevertheless, we remind you that no server is impenetrable or uninterruptible. Given the nature of electronic communications and information processing technology, Rule IoT cannot guarantee that information, whether in transmission (via the Internet, wi-fi or other means), or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, will be safe from intrusion, misuse or theft by others. If any personal data under our control is determined by us to have been compromised because of a breach of our security, we will use reasonable efforts to notify affected customers.
You may access personal data that you have provided to Rule IoT through your account page for the Service. You may review, correct, and request to delete information by following the instructions on the Service, or by contacting us in writing at [email protected]. We will review, update or remove information as we deem appropriate or as required by law. We will do our best to address your request in a timely fashion and free of charge, except where it would require an unreasonable or disproportionate effort. In certain cases, we may ask you to verify your identity before we can act on your request. We may, however, still retain your old information in our files for archival purposes, to address disputes, to meet technical or legal requirements and/or due to technology, security or operational limitations and constraints.
Rule IoT, LLC is subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). There also exists the possibility, under certain circumstances, for persons to invoke binding arbitration when other dispute resolution procedures have been exhausted.
Rule IoT acknowledges the potential for liability in cases of onward transfers to third parties of personal data of EU or Swiss individuals received pursuant to Privacy Shield. In compliance with the Privacy Shield Principles, Rule IoT commits to resolve complaints about our collection or use of your personal information. EU and Swiss individuals with inquiries or complaints regarding our Privacy Shield policy should first contact Rule IoT at [email protected]. Rule IoT has further committed to refer unresolved Privacy Shield complaints to JAMS, an alternative dispute resolution provider located in the United States. If you do not receive timely acknowledgment of your complaint from us, or if we have not addressed your complaint to your satisfaction, please contact JAMS for more information or to file a complaint. The services of JAMS are provided at no cost to you.
Our Services are for customers age 13 and over. Rule IoT will not knowingly engage in processing of data for users under the age of consent established by applicable data protection laws. and we do not knowingly receive, collect or process personal information from children under the age of 13 without their parent or guardian’s permission, which consent will be deemed given to Rule IoT by any customer that links a minor’s phone or other location-based technology or device, directly or indirectly, to the Apps. If you send us ideas for new products or services, or for modifications to existing products or services, by any means or through any channel of communication (collectively, "Unsolicited Information"), all such Unsolicited Information shall be deemed to be non-confidential and Rule IoT shall be free to reproduce, use, disclose, and distribute all such Unsolicited Information to others without limitation, and without any compensation or attribution to you.
